Since 2008, Matthias Fuchs, PhD, is full professor at the European Tourism Research Institute (ETOUR), Mid-Sweden University. Previously he was the director of the e-Tourism Competence Centre Austria (ECCA) and supervised four large scale industry projects in the area of mobile guides, online auctions, technology impact and e-Learning. Until May 2010 Matthias served as the scientific supervisor at the ECCA. As being author of more than 110 academic publications, Matthias was rewarded with the Austrian State sponsored Rudolf-Sallinger Price and was nominated by the International Research Promotion Council (IRPC) for the Eminent Scientist of the Year 2003. He is a member of the International Centre for Research and Education in Tourism (ICRET), the International Federation for IT and Travel and Tourism (IFITT), the Royal Academic Council of Eminent Scientists, the Erich Gutenberg Arbeitsgemeinschaft Köln e.V., the Association International d´Experts Scientifiques du Tourisme (AIEST), the Strategic Management Society (SMS), the International Data Envelopment Analysis Society (iDEAs), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Tourismuswissenschaft (DGT). Matthias is editorial board member for Information Technology & Tourism, Tourism Analysis and Annals of Tourism Research.
